Jeff‘s 40-year career in the healthcare industry spans positions as hospital executive, senior corporate officer and management consultant. He has extensive experience in both the non-profit and investor-owned hospital sectors. As a consultant, Simmons has assisted healthcare organizations in strategic planning and implementation; corporate and management structure; merger, acquisition and network development; and physician compensation planning. He has founded and managed a company that operated medical rehabilitation hospitals in four states.
His experience also includes:
- Strategic, programmatic, facility and business plans for academic medical centers, medical schools, multi-hospital health systems, physician groups and proprietary healthcare companies.
- Medical staff development plans
- Hospital-physician joint ventures
- Physician compensation plans with a specialization in academic and administrative positions.
Before joining DGA Partners, Simmons was President and CEO of Longshore • Simmons • Garofolo, a diversified healthcare consulting and executive search firm in the Philadelphia area. He was previously president and CEO of Medicon, Inc. where he oversaw the company's transition from a large, diversified consulting operation to a hospital development, ownership and management company. Before Medicon, Jeff was a principal with Laventhol & Horwath, developing and managing their diversified national healthcare consulting practice.
Simmons has published numerous articles in professional journals. He has served on the governing bodies of many healthcare and community-based organizations. He holds a BA from West Virginia University and a Masters in Hospital Administration from The George Washington University, and is a diplomate of the ACHE.
